Our first glimpse inside the June, “Create your Own Sunshine” themed box. We love that the boxes are customized for the theme of the box. This one is from Elizabeth Akers Allen.
Everything that we received in our June Unplugged Young Adult Book Box. This box commemorates the Summer Solstice with some cheery, upbeat items! Our, “Create your Own Sunshine” themed box questions whether we are loving ourselves for who we are and loving ourselves as we are!

The Greywaren Tea from the Riddles Tea Shoppe
The first item in our box is this herbal tea inspired by The Raven Cycle. This tea was made exclusively for the Unplugged Book Box.
This blend includes; Green Rooibos, Rooibos, Blueberry Flavor, Raspberry Leaves, Blueberries, Rose Hips, Hibiscus, Cranberries, Blue Cornflowers, Caramel Flavor, Vanilla Flavor and Marigold Flowers. The back of our package also includes steeping instructions.
Shine Bright Pouch from Novel Grounds
Another Unplugged Book Box Exclusive is this pouch from Novel Grounds. We find this extremely fitting for a, “Create your Own Sunshine” themed box. The foiled letters are bright and fun and we think this would be a great way to store either pencils or makeup!
The inside is lined with a durable gray liner that appears to be waterproof.
Sailor Moon Enamel Pin
Our next item is an enamel pin inspired by one of the co owners favorite cartoons … Sailor Moon. The symbols represent the Sailor Scouts – Neptune and Uranus.
This fun pin was designed by the Unplugged Book Box team and has a fun celestial pattern. The shape appears to be a bit like a geode and it’s the first of a set of 3 enamel pins that subscribers will receive in their Unplugged Book Boxes.
Love is Love is Love Shower Steamer from Bubble Princess
Our first bath goodie in this box is a shower steamer from Bubble Princess. Not only is this packaged beautifully but it also smells amazing to us! If you’ve never used a shower steamer before all you have to do is place it in a place in your shower that won’t receive direct moisture and allow the drops to hit it and release it’s gentle aroma!

Baz Grimm-Pitch Sugar Scrub
Inspired by the book Carry On by Rainbow Rowell we have a sharply scented (to match the character it depicts) pomegranate and sass scented sugar scrub. This product rounds out the 2 bath items that came in the June installment of Unplugged Book Box. This was made for Unplugged Book Box by Typewriter Hearts and smells amazing.. we can’t wait to use it.
The formulation contains no dyes which is nice if you have any sort of sensitivity to dyes. There was also a subscriber only discount for 15% off Typewriter Hearts shop purchases.
Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian
Our book for this month is a coming of age tale that follows three teens who traverse the year 1989 and confront sexuality along the way. This book also came with a signed bookplate as well as a handwritten letter from the author.
Our letter from the author explains how these characters have been inside him since he was a young man and that they’ve finally been put into print to remind us to love each other as well as ourselves despite our fear and shame.

The cover art for this book is really cool. The story sounds sad yet … we have a feeling the ending will come together and leave us with an finish we’ll find satisfying!
Reza is our real protagonist and is probably closely related to Abdi as a young man. We cant wait to read this book!
So in summary
Presentation: Everything was packaged well (and individually wrapped which we really like) and arrived to us perfectly in the June installment of the Unplugged Book Box.
Quality: We love that they source the items in these boxes from smaller, independent shops and many of the items are exclusive to the box that they’re in! If you love items that are based on themes and elements from popular books this is definitely the subscription box for you!
Curation: This, “Create your Own Sunshine” themed box had a lot of great items and we love how well they fit into the theme for the month. The whole premise of this box was to be who you are and to do it with joy and that really comes across with the items that they included!
