Spice Breeze is a monthly culinary adventure. Each package contains spice kits which include a recipe and all the spices you’ll need to complete that recipe. Choose from the Wanderlust that contains two spice kits (pre-chosen) for $6.80, the Globetrotter which is the same as the Wanderlust but double the spices for $12.99 or finally the Cosmopolitan (which I’m reviewing). This kit includes 4 spice kits (2 are pre-chosen and 2 you’ll select) for $13.99 monthly. NAT received this package at no cost for review purposes.

Everything that came in my July Spice Breeze package. There are four spice kits included in total.
So what is all this stuff?
Our box insert, this tells us the location that is featured this month is Hawaii.
The back of our insert tells us about Hula which is deeply rooted in Hawaiian culture.
The first spice kit in this month’s package is Sate Ponorogo, a Javanese dish. Sate is the national dish of Indonesia and this version is from Ponorogo a regency in East Java.
The recipe for this requires about 30 minutes hands on and doesn’t require too much technical cooking skills. Our spice kit for this includes; lemongrass, ginger, galangal, chili, coriander, garlic, lemon peel, star anise, cilantro, onion, basil, cumin, white pepper, cinnamon, lemon crystals and lemon oil. This sounds like a bright combo to me.
Next up is our Cajun Shrimp dish which is an American culinary delight. This New Orleans inspired kit is great with fish or shrimp.
I would have made this one for the month but there were one two of the three packets we needed to whip this one up. This recipe seemed pretty simple as well and our spice packet includes; paprika, yellow mustard, oregano, thyme and black pepper in the first. Chipotle chili in the second and Amchoor powder in the third.
Next up is a Poke Bowl Bar which is a Hawaiian dish. The word Poke means to slice and these dishes are versatile and you can add whatever you’d like. There are also Japanese Poke Bowls.
This really is a great lunch dish but in the end I really wanted something that I could made for dinner. Our spice packet for this includes; White and Black toasted sesame seeds and roasted seaweed.
This packet was included as a bonus. This zesty lime chili will definitely add a pop of bright heat to almost any dish you prepare.
Our final pack and the dish that I decided to make for the month is Tandoori Chicken. This Indian dish is made vibrant and flavorful with a yogurt marinade. I liked that these used skewers which is a fun and novel thing for my kids and I also really liked that I had many of the ingredients it required on hand.
My first spice packet in this kit includes; paprika, cinnamon, cardamom, ajowan, turmeric, cloves, cumin, white pepper and coriander. The second packet is just chili flakes to amp up the heat.
Okay so now what?
Now I get to cooking.
First i mix together the yogurt, tandoori spices (1), grated ginger and garlic, salt and the chili flakes (to taste).
Once you mix that up you’ll add your chicken that you’ve cut into one inch pieces.
Stir to coat and then pop this in the refrigerator anywhere from 2 – 24 hours.
Next up you’ll prepare your mint chutney (this is my favorite part of this dish). Mix together mint, cilantro, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, salt and the tandoori spices (2) to taste. Pulse and add water as needed. You should be left with a thick sauce.
This smells amazing.
Then transfer to a bowl and refrigerate until you are ready to serve.
Now you’ll thread your chicken onto the skewers and bake for about 20-30 minutes.
These smelled absolutely amazing and I was so hungry by the time they were done!
I served these with rice (which i forego) and a nice kale salad. It was delicious and the whole family liked it!
So in summary
Presentation: Kinda bummed that one of our spices were missing but having been with Spice Breeze this long this is the first time something like that has happened.
Quality: I love that they use organic and all natural spices. These blends really are high quality.
Curation: This month we had a great assortment of exotic flavors and spices and I’ll definitely enjoy each dish!
