Our first glimpse inside the Salt Effect Subscription Box
Everything that we received in our Salt Effect “Plant Blindness” themed box.
So what is all this stuff?
Our box insert. This talks about the SALT effect (service and learning together) and how this 5 step practice changes the world for the better.
Pamphlet
This covers each of the SALT Effect steps.
The first pages cover the first step, “Investigate” which basically is understanding what plant blindness is. This is a new concept for us but essentially it’s not understanding or seeing the plants, flowers, trees around you.
More interesting facts about plant blindness.
Step 2 is “Plan & Prepare” for this step we’ll be watching a video about BLOOM! a National Campaign launched by Seed Your Future.
Step 3 is “Act” and for this they’ve included some items to help us to change plant blindness.
Step 4 is “Reflect” which asks questions about this month’s topic. This page isn’t in the pamphlet because they want you to be able to see it and think about it.
Our final step is “Demonstrate”you can do this by sharing on social media, regrowing food scraps and more.
Wildflower Seed Paper from Plantables and Paper
We received 3 plantable paper flowers that are infused with wildflower seeds like; Sweet Alyssum, White Yarrow, Spurred Snapdragon, Catchfly, Red Prairie Coneflower and Shirley Poppy. These help us in our “Act” step and can be planted singularly or torn apart and scattered over a larger area. We are going to hold on to these until spring because it’s kind of cold here in South Eastern, PA. We love these though and think they are a super cute item to include in this box!
Woodchuck USA Custom Notebook

This custom notebook from Woodchuck USA offers a ‘Buy One, Plant One’ system. For each custom book purchase Woodchuck plants a tree and also gives you the ability to see your change in action! We absolutely LOVE the quote on this book – we’d never heard this before but think it’s fitting as well as beautiful!
This notebook oozes high quality with all it’s little touches.
The inside of our notebook. The first image has a small card, on the back of this card is a code that allows us to see on the Woodchuck site where our tree was planted and the effect it has caused.
As you can see here our tree was planted in Madagascar and there’s a lot more information about how it’s effecting that area. We think this is really cool!
And the back of our book is also etched with a custom SALT Effect logo!

Quality: We are absolutely floored with how beautiful the book from Woodchuck USA is! This box is very well put together on the whole.
Curation: We really love the idea of Service Learning and think teaching kids different social concepts is a clever way of including quality learning that children may not be learning in school. This subscription also encourages both people and families to make changes in the world around them which we love!
