Subscription Box Review

I did choose the items that were included in my box for this month. The first item I selected were lemons because you cannot go wrong with fresh lemon! There were four included in my box in total.

Next up in my box are these two cucumbers. I love cucumbers anyway they come – particularly in salads but this week I think I’ll be pickling these as my husband has been bugging me to do so!

These oyster mushrooms were an add on (subscribers have the ability to add on extra items to their box at discounted rates). I forgot what kind of mushrooms I chose so I had to look these up and I’m pretty certain these are the oyster variety. Not sure how I’ll make them yet though. Leave me some suggestions down in the comments!

There were also 6 oranges included in my box as well. While I’m sure that I only chose one orange variety I did receive two different types. Not sure why that happened, nevertheless my kids will enjoy the heck out of these!

Next in my box are four pears. I always select these when they are an option in my Misfits Market Box for my husband… he loves pears and takes them to work with him as a snack!

I love trying the varieties of fruit that sounds a little more exotic and unusual. This week Misfits Market was offering Opal Apples which I’d never heard of. They sent me six of these which are a cross between a golden delicious apple and a topaz apple. I am thinking about baking these with some caramel and mascarpone!

Then there are two bunches of scallions included in my box as well. These have HUGE bulbs and will be delicious as garnish or in a soup!

I also selected leeks in my box for this week. I am thinking I will make a potato leek soup with these, it’s been a bit cold here so this will be a nice winter treat!

Then I chose beets. I LOVE beets. I prefer them cooked in a glaze sauce like my grandmother used to but if it’s for my family for dinner instead of my own lunch we usually roast them in the oven with a bit of butter salt and pepper.

There were also five red skinned potatoes in my box as well. I actually used these already in a crockpot meal I made last night!

I also chose to receive collards in my box for this week. We love these cooked with bacon and onion over a broth. You simmer these for quite a while and you get the most beautiful, delicious flavor!

The final item in my box for this week is a head of cauliflower! I selected this as it will be great to use in my lunches for the week. I may even try my hand at a cauliflower pizza!

So in summary

Presentation: Everything arrived to be in great condition in my Misfits Market Box. I know this is supposed to be “Ugly” but it seemed just find to me.

Quality: I love that the produce is organic and non-gmo and that all the packaging is either recyclable or biodegradable.

Curation: Considering I selected the items in my box I would say the curation is pretty spot on!
