Subscription Box Review
Our first glimpse inside our Misfits Market Box. The card tells us where we can go online to access our menu.
Turnips. First we have 3 turnips. These are great for a raw snack (in our humble opinion) but also make a great starch for any dinner dish!
Next up we have this HUGE container of grape tomatoes. It was so full that they had to use rubber bands to keep it closed. In past weeks we had these fall all over our box but because of this clever rubber band trick not one tomato was lost!
We also received a bunch of oraganic Lacinato Kale which we used in a delicious salad. We also used the grape tomatoes and avocados in this box as well as lemon juice, coarse kosher salt and lemon juice to top it.
Avocados
We received a total of 4 avocados in this weeks Misfits Market Box. In our opinion you can never have too many avocados they are just that versatile!
OK so we can see immediately why this was labeled a rescue vegetable, it’s turning just a bit on the tips of it’s leaves. We used this for dinner the night that we received it and just removed the turned parts and found it absolutely scrumptious! We love lettuce.
On the fruit front we have 4 pears. EVERYONE in our house loves these so these will definitely go to use!
Okay so in the unboxing we called this Raddichio and we totally remembered AFTER the video it’s called Romanescu… but hey we got the R right! This is a variety of broccoli and has such a beautiful Fibonacci spiral… how can you not be in awe!
We also received 2 yellow onions, great accents to any meal.
We looked at the Misfits Market Menu for the week and couldn’t find anything that looked like this. We haven’t eaten it yet and so the best we can come up with is… white radish that isn’t quite ripe.? If you know leave us a comment letting us know!
We also received this giant bulb of garlic to further flavor our meals!
We received six of these small, sweet and delicious clementine oranges. We love using these in our daughters lunches!
And finally we received six russet potatoes which… let’s be honest are pretty much the most versatile vegetable ever!
So in summary
Presentation: We know this is an “ugly food” subscription box but really we have no complaints. We use everything we receive in these boxes.
Quality: Despite it’s “ugliness” most of the veggies and fruits that we receive are organic and taste quite delicious!
Curation: This is something we have to applaud them for, we don’t know how but our boxes always have a really good variety from week to week so that the vegetables never feel boring or stale!
