Subscription Box Review
My first glimpse inside the Misfits Market Box for October. I love that all their packaging is recyclable and/or biodegradable
Okay so what is all this stuff?
The first item in my box is celery. I don’t remember selecting this as I’m not the hugest celery fan but that’s okay. Penny really likes celery with peanut butter to snack on!
Next up in my box is a spaghetti squash. We love spaghetti squash and usually just roast it in the oven with salt pepper and olive oil.
Then there are four yellow onions in my box. So multi purpose. I typically prefer to cook with yellow onions rather than adding them to sandwiches and salads.
There were two cucumbers included as well. I typically pickle the cucumbers I receive but these are pretty large so I’ll most likely use them in a salad.
These four lemons will be an excellent addition to salads and marinades plus my kids (and myself) really love to snack on them.
There were also four red bell peppers in my box. Two of these were broken and very near expiration but we used them right away in a stir fry and they were just fine.
Six limes – typically I’d say these would be wonderful in a gimlet but it’s sober October folks. I’ll most likely use these in a pico de gallo recipe for Taco Tuesday!
I also selected two bunches of scallions. Like I said above my husband made a stir fry last night and these were excellent in it. I love these in salads and omelettes and soups as well!
There were six jalapenos in my box as well. My husband loves these so I selected them for him!
Another item that I chose for my box is this bunch of collards. We love cooking these up in broth with bacon and onion. I would have liked to receive a bit more as this is not enough for my whole family for a whole meal but that’s okay.
I have to be honest and say that I went a bit overboard in my selection of fruit this month but that’s ok, my kids will definitely eat it. First there’s six Gala Apples.
Then there are six red pears, my husband’s favorite fruit is pears.
Second to last are these eight plum / nectarine hybrids. Or maybe they’re just nectarines I can’t remember. Either way these are delicious!
Finally there were these six bartlett pears.
I did also select an item from the Marketplace to add on to my box – this Core & Rind Cashew Cheesy Sauce as I’m trying to stay away from dairy. It’s really good and can be purchased in the marketplace for $7.49
So in summary
Presentation: Everything was packaged well and arrived to me perfectly in my box from Misfits for this week
Quality: I love that the produce is all organic and non-gmo!
Curation: Considering I select all the items in my box i’d say that the curation is spot on!
