Subscription Box Review
Our first glimpse inside the Ipsy Glam Bag Plus for December.
Everything that came in my December, “Shine On” themed Ipsy Glam Bag Plus. Once again this is a nice assortment of products particularly when you consider the price.
So what is all this stuff?
Our box insert. This lists each of the items that came in the box as well as their retail values. Our bag for the month is a metallic silver with any blue embellishments! It’s quite pretty!
Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Stay Spray Setting Spray
$25
First item in my box for the month is a setting spray that was one of the choice items for the month. I really enjoy getting setting sprays and I tend to like Tarte products so I am really happy with this. I haven’t had a chance to try this yet but I can’t wait!
Illamasqua Liquid Eyeliner
$22
Next up is an item I’m not quite as excited with. It’s a black liquid eyeliner from Illamasqua an UK based beauty brand who is often included in Ipsy packages. While I like their products getting another liner is kind of redundant, I haven’t opened this yet because I don’t want it to dry out since I have another liquid liner open already.
Evolue Skincare Hydrating Serum
$68
Okay so the price point on this small bottle is CRAZY high but the claims are that it uses three weights of hyaluronic acid to draw moisture from the air around to hydrate your skin. This claims to be great for plumping your skin and minimizing fine lines and wrinkles. I haven’t had a chance to use this yet.
Ittse The Fulton Eyeshadow Quad
$60
Then… there’s this magnetic eyeshadow quad from ittse cosmetics (which is a new to me brand). This was a bit of a disappointment and I felt like Ipsy may have foregone quality for an aesthetic. The quad itself is super cute in a gold case.
The inside is made of foam which you can lift up to add more pans … however if you do that you cannot use the foam cover. Also, you’re blasted!
But the biggest disappointment is the swatches. There were four shades in total with one matte shade. They just weren’t magical for the price of this quad at all. The shimmers were nice but … shimmers usually are!
111Skin Cryo Activating Hydra Gel
$200
The final item in my December box from Ipsy Plus is a $200 jar of skin cream… whewie. This moisturizer soothes skin as well as smoothes out fine lines … I suppose it has blurring properties. This also protects skin from environmental issues. I have not had a chance to use this yet and to be honest… I may not. I find the price tag to be a bit intimidating!
So in summary
Presentation: Everything arrived to me perfectly in my box from Ipsy!
Quality: I feel like Ipsy went for ultimate box value rather than getting a great grouping of products. However, I feel like such a brat because nothing I received was “bad” quality
Curation: There was a LOT of skincare items in this month box and a lot of people are sure to like it. It wasn’t my favorite Ipsy Plus though.
Box Economy: For the price of this box ($25) I received $375 in products which is honestly amazing. If the value of a box means a LOT to you this is going to be one that you’ll love!
