Subscription Box Unboxing
Subscription Box Review
The first glimpse inside this month’s Ipsy Glam Bag Plus.
Here’s everything that I received in my September, “Find your Light” themed box. This is nice assortment and well over the value of the box!
So what is all this stuff?
Every Glam Bag Plus comes with an insert that tells you more about the product as well as the retail values of each of the products that are included.
Everything is always really clearly laid out and easy to understand. I’ve found though the themes of their boxes have absolutely no link to the products they include .. but that isn’t a thing that bothers me at all.
Illamasqua Antimatter Lipstick in Midnight
$27
The first product in our package is a beautiful deep red shade from UK based brand Illamasqua. This cruelty free formula is particularly hydrating and is infused with vitamin e. I love the square shape of this bullet, it is totally giving me 90’s vibes.
This color really does go on quite gorgeously. It’s color is rich and the formula lays down so beautifully. I haven’t tried this on my lips yet and am hoping it isn’t the type of product that kind of gets everywhere… so I’ll keep you guys posted!
OFRA X Madison Miller Squad Palette
$35
Next up is the product that I was most excited for… and somehow let me down the most? This highlight palette includes 2 highlight shades and one blush all of which are pretty and the packaging is cute although you can obviously imagine how dirty it’s going to get but that is neither here nor there.
If you watch the unboxing you’ll see that the blush shade pan popped right out of the palette which is a huge disappointment. I do love the shades though. The blush is subtle and is a tone I will definitely use and both of the highlights are pretty, one is a pink toned and one is more of a champagne shade. Ipsy does suggest that you can dip a wet brush into these pigments and use them as shadow.
Ciate London Extraordinary Translucent Powder
$22
So when I peeked in my emails to see what I was getting this month I saw a setting powder and was like… ugh. Granted last month the Boxyluxe sent that Hydramist setting powder from Becca and I swear that stuff is magic but I just don’t use setting powders because my skin is so darn dry. Some of the claims are that this is extremely finely milled and can be used to set the face or to bake with. I do like Ciate as a brand but didn’t want to open this up as I’d like to either pass it on to a friend or put it in an upcoming giveaway.
Wander Beauty Frame Your Face Micro Brow Pencil in Dark
$21
Wander Beauty is one of those brands that only popped onto my radar after I started getting Ipsy Plus. Their face oil is amazing and so far so good on all the products that I’ve tried. This pencil is really fine and I LOVE this packaging. I feel like you can never have too many eyebrow pencils and I LOVE the color of this one. It helps too that it includes a spooly to arrange and comb your brow hairs.
I love the way this goes on – it’s pretty waxy which I like… it usually indicates for me that it’s going to stay in place and look authentic. I don’t do full glam brows and opt for a more natural brow so this product should be perfect for me!
GlamGlow TropicalCleanse Daily Exfoliating Cleanser
$34
This is probably the item most people were excited about for this month… I’m kind of on the fence with the GlamGlow line in general though. First up though the packaging is super cute and the tube is HUGE. The formula claims to buff away dead skin to leave a glowing and radiant complexion by using things like TEAOXI Green Tea Leaf, purple clay, goji berries and acai. I may try this out but I also may not… I’ve kind of been having good results with my skin lately and don’t want to mess it up. It does say that you can use this cleanser everyday.
So in summary
Presentation: Everything was packaged well and arrived to us in great condition this month with the exception of the palette from Ofra. That I don’t see as something that’s Ipsy’s fault though, that is more on Ofra’s end.
Quality: I think the quality of each of the brands that Ipsy included are great. Many of them like GlamGlow are favorites of many out there, I was disappointed with the palette though like I said above.
Curation: I feel like such a brat saying it but after last month it was really a hard task to win me over. This box was an eh.. for me and was a bit underwhelming. Having said that though I still feel like the value was tremendous and the products were varied and very useful!
Box Economy: For the price of this box we received $139 in products which is a PHENOMENAL deal. Considering I won’t use a couple I decided to figure out the value of the items that I’d use and compare it to the cost of the box as well – $83 of the products that are included in this box I will use which I think is still a great bang for your buck!
