I love to BBQ year round, even in the middle of a Canadian winter. There is something about cooking on that flame that brings out a joy of food prep that can be lost in a indoor kitchen. Grillers’ Paradise (located in Mississauga, Ontario) understands this urge to get outside and create mouth watering meals and has created a subscription box to showcase some of the best, unique and hard to find products you likely won’t find anywhere else. I was truly excited to get this box in the mail!
Each Grillers’ Paradise box comes with an information card outlining each item in the box.
Fajita Spice Blend – Perth Pepper and Pestle
My family loves fajita night, but the usual store-bought “taco seasoning” can become over-done and we need to kick it up a notch. This will most likely be used inside to pan fry a fajita mix, but it can also be used as a rub on steaks and chicken or to make a tasty pan a shrimp.
Maritime Madness – Bacon Blaze – Bacon Hot Sauce
I was very excited about this hot sauce as I love spicy food, and I love bacon. This sauce hails from Prince Edward Island and retails for $9.95 I sampled this sauce expecting a stronger bacon taste to it, but I was happy with the amount of spice. It did have a nice bacony aftertaste and will be great on hamburgers!
Harissa – The Epicentre $8.95
I am very excited to try this chili sauce mix. It is very versatile as it can be used as a meat rub, mixed with oil and garlic for a paste or even added to yogurt to create a dip. I’m sure it will be used for all three in my house. I discovered that typically Harissa is used in Moroccan, Algerian and Tunisian cooking. I love exploring the worldly favors on the market and am glad this subscription box included this one. I never would have bought it on my own, and the grillers’ monthly team found a gem!
Bush Dreams Forestberry Chipotle Rub $8.95
Mmmm, smokey chipotle rub with a nice little kick. I cracked this one open right away and sampled it in my hand. It will put a wonderful Australian twist on cooking as it uses both Forestberry and Mountain Pepper from the Australian outback. Another great find!
Hot Pepper Napkins
If you plan on following the ideas given by the Grillers’ Paradise team on the included card, you will be enjoying many delicious finger licking good dinners! What better way to compliment the spices than a fun pack of pepper napkins. Bright and colorful, these will add a little visual spice to your table.
Verdict: I love to BBQ and of course this box brought a smile to my face. At first I thought the price was a little high for a subscription box with only a few products, but after doing my research I found that the combined retail value of each item matched or exceeded the price of the box. That does not include the value placed on discovering new spices from local Canadian companies and great flavors from around the world. The value of the combined items and the care put into its selection by the curators makes this box a great deal as a stand-alone one month purchase and an even better deal when subscribed to multiple months. The website seems a little dated as compared to other subscription boxes, but the value is in the product. I do wish that all products in the box were available through their online store, or at least links to the official product page to learn more and order more once I run out. Overall, a great gift for the griller in your life!
