Our first glimpse inside the June Gramma in a Box package. Gramma in a Box was created by a Gramma who wanted to spend time with her long distance grandkids through little cookie and candy care packages.
Everything that we received in our June, “Emojis and Minions” themed box. We can’t tell you how excited our kids were for a box like this, especially our younger kids.
So what is all this stuff?
Our box insert. This tells us about this month’s theme and also lists each of the items that was included in this package.
We received detailed instructions for each of our three projects as well.
These blue sprinkles will be used in our second Minion Bites project and the remaining sprinkles can be used in our third cookie decorating project.
These blue sugar sprinkles will be used in our cookie decorating project.
As will these yellow sugar crystal sprinkles. Each package from Gramma in a Box has a cookie decorating project where the kids really get to use their imaginations and create fun and frosty cookies!
These Rice Krispies will be used in our second Minion Bites project.
These mini cupcake liners will be used in that project as a well, to keep your Minion Bites together.
Each package from Gramma in a Box comes with a colored melting chocolate. We melt this down and will be using it in both our Emoji Pops and Minion Bites projects. The yellow is bright and is the exact shade of an emoji!
These brown sprinkles will be used as hair in our first Emoji Pop project. The remainder can be used in our cookie decorating project… our kids also stole a whole bunch along the way!
These fun sprinkles will be used to decorate our emoji pops. This container had such a variety inside including, bowties, mustaches, eyes, stars, hearts, dots and anything else you can imagine!
The kids really liked using these to decorate their pops. They used the leftover pieces on their cookies!
Each package from Gramma in a Box contains 3 tubes of different colored frosting. This month’s box includes all three primary colors – red, blue and yellow. These will be used in our Third Emoji and Minion Cookie Decorating project.
This package contains six marshmallows as well as six Popsicle sticks. These will be used in our Emoji Pop project. While there are six included … 1 little rogue ate their pop before they actually got to decorate it… so we ended up with 5!
Each cookie decorating project has 8 cookies in total, 4 large and 4 small. Typically Gramma in a Box includes sugar cookies. This month’s shapes are ovals for minions and circles for the emojis that we can decorate.
Finally in our box we received 2 pieces of parchment paper to lay all our crafts on while they set. This makes cleanup so easy and convenient!
Okay so show us what you made!
First we gather everything that we’ll need for our Emoji Pop project. We’ll be using the melting chocolate, brown sprinkles, emoji pieces and the marshmallows and Popsicle sticks.
First we melt our chocolate. This is done in stages so we don’t scorch our chocolate.
Then we dip each stick in the chocolate and then push it into the bottom of a marshmallow. It’s at this point our son ate one of the marshmallows.
Now you’ll roll your marshmallow in the yellow chocolate and then dip just the top (for hair) into the brown sprinkles. This looks pretty cute.
We laid them all out so it would be easier to decorate them.
Finally we let the kids have fun decorating these little guys. They ended up really cute!
The second project is our Minion Bites. These projects are the simplest. All we need for this are the little liners, the Rice Krispies, the melting chocolate from the first project and the blue sprinkles.
Our first step for this project is to mix the cereal into the chocolate. You may have to reheat your chocolate a bit.
Then we will spoon the mixture out into each of the liners
To finish them off we top them with the blue sprinkles. These will need to sit for a bit before you can eat them. These are our favorite treats that come in Gramma in a Box.
Our final project is our cookie decorating. For this we’ll need our cookies, yellow sprinkles, blue sprinkles and blue sugar crystals, we also use our remaining brown sprinkles and emoji pieces in addition to our bags of frosting. The frosting needs to be kneaded before being put on the cookies.
Our youngers did a really great job at abstract art on their cookies… they also used a boatload of icing in the process.
While our olders tried their best to create emojis and minions.
We think they turned our really cute!
Belle was particularly proud of her Captain America Minion Cookie! Here are all of our finished candy and cookie crafts!
So in summary
Presentation: Everything arrived to us well packaged and perfectly in our June Gramma in a Box package.
Quality: We don’t know where she finds all the fun sprinkles that she includes each month but there’s a great deal of effort put into these boxes.
Curation: We love the themes that keep each box from Gramma in a Box fresh and new. We thought this theme was one of the best yet! Our kids loved that they were creating characters and themes from some of their favorite movies and the big pieces that we got to add on to our first project really made us all giggle!
