Here’s the Box Breakdown

Everything that we received in our December Creationist Crafts Subscription Box.

So what is all this stuff?

Our box inserts tell us how to create our 2 crafts for the month. The first is our art craft which is straw weaving. This page also has our biblical passage for the month, “Consider the lilies, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these.” Luke 12:27. The second page is our science craft and our science word for the month is Homogenous!

In our package we have a skein of teal colored yarn that will be used in our straw weaving.

5 straws that will be used in both of our projects for the month.

This plastic spoon will be used in our Spice Ornament Science Project.

This star cookie cutter will also be used in our cookie cutter project.

As well as this bottle of Allspice.

Our Tacky Glue will be used to create our spice ornament as well.

Okay so now what?

Now we get to creating!

We gather all the ingredients to create our spice ornament.  We only had to provide a plastic cup and wax paper (we didn’t have that but tin foil worked fine).

We mix the entire contents of the Allspice container with the entire package of Tacky Glue in the cup.

Our word for the month is homogeneous, so we create a homogeneous mixture of the allspice and glue.

We dump our cup out onto the foil.

Then we knead the dough into a ball.

One of our final steps is cutting it out into a star.

As well as placing a straw into it to create a hole to hang this as an ornament later.

Finally, we’ll gently lay this out onto the foil and allow to dry on each side for 12 hours. We can’t wait until this is done! We have one from when we were kids and it STILL smells amazing!

Our second project is our art craft and it requires your own pair of scissors.

We start by cutting our 4 straws to 6 inches in length

Then cutting 4 pieces of string to 12 inches in length.

Then you’ll feed the 4 strings through the 4 straws.

Now you’ll loosely tie a knot at one end.

Wrap that same end in the washi tape.

And tie a knot around the bottom straw.

Now you’ll do an over under patter to complete your weaving.

It will look (very roughly) like this.

Our completed weaving project.

So in summary

Presentation: All of our instructions were clear and everything arrived to us perfectly.

Quality: All the items were good quality in this subscription and the price point ROCKED.

Curation: We felt like they did a really good job of rounding up two great crafts and tying them both together with both a biblical passage as well as a term from science!
