Our first glimpse inside the Club SciKidz Box for April
Everything that we received in our “Weather on the Wild Side” themed box!
So what is all this stuff?
Our box insert, this tells us what’s in the box
Our activity workbook. This tells us how to use what’s in the box.
Each page is a different activity. At the end of the guide there’s a page with “microexperiments” which help you to expand on the activities included in the box. The last page also gives you one great scientist in the field as well as a movie or book that relates to this field.
Solo Cup
This cup will be used in our, “Making Frost” experiment.
This ice cream salt was also included for our frost experiment. We’d never heard of this before but basically it can be used in an ice cream maker or cooler to cool off beverages or foods more rapidly than ice alone.
We measured out one cup of crushed ice.
And added it to our cup.
We then add 3.5 tablespoons of ice cream salt to our ice and stir.
Allow the cup to sit for 10 minutes and observe the differences in frost! This is our end result!
Cloud Sorting Activity
This activity includes a cardboard cutout frame as well as a cloud guide.
Your child is supposed to cutout the pictures and put them on the appropriate clue. This is a little bit like a puzzle. The final step is gluing on the popsicle stick so you can look at clouds and determine what kind they are!
Belle did this project with no help at all!

Hackey Sack
Each Club SciKidz box comes with a small toy and this cosmic patterned hackey sack is a cute addition.
Lifesavers
Each Club SciKidz Box also comes with one candy. This month we received Wint-O-Green Lifesavers!
Weather Station
This mini weather station allows you to see rainfall as well as wind speeds and so much more. All you have to do is mount it and observe!
Here is ours mounted. We have no idea if we did this right… our husband hasn’t checked it yet!
Rain Cloud in a Jar
Our final activity is a rain cloud in a jar. We supplied the jar and shaving cream. After we fill the jar three quarters of the way with water we add shaving cream to the top. Then we add drops of water and watch as the cream “falls” through the water. We also do the same thing with food coloring. This is green food coloring! The kids really enjoyed this one!
So in summary
We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation and presentation. The Club SciKidz Box is the perfect way to keep those young minds active over the summer months. These experiments get them using their hands and using their noggins! The presentation is great, everything arrives perfectly. The quality is awesome – they do a great job of pulling all the things we need for our experiments! And curation is fantastic, this weather themed box came together famously.
