I love hearing about new subscription boxes! The focus of this box is mostly the knowledge and skills you will receive to play with you baby. This one intrigued me even though my children are past the optional age. I can remember having babies and not knowing what to do with them.
Each Bumble Brain Box comes with an information booklet and activity cards outlining further research on each activity and how your can expand or modify the play with your baby as they get older or advance in each skill.
Cognitive Development
Activity – Changing Colors
These eye filters give the baby a different perceptive on the world around them. This activity helps target the occipital lobe development, by promoting curiosity and inquisitiveness.
Emotional Development
Activity – Emotion Cards
Draw faces on the card and encourage baby to mimic the expressions. This activity helps target amygdala, limbic system development, by developing emotional recognition and promotes self-identity.
Physical Development
Activity – Fill & Pour
Encourages baby to pick up and drop the duck into the open contain. This activity helps target frontal lobe development, by promoting fine motor control, hand/eye co-ordination and judgement.
Auditory Development
Activity – Rattle Response
Begin with the key rattle just out of sight, baby will eventually learn to turn and reach in the direction of the rattle. This activity helps target temporal lobe development, by introducing auditory recognition and coordinating reflexes.
Auditory Development
Activity – Roll & Catch
Roll ball towards baby and see their reaction. Eventually they will learn to reach for the ball. This activity helps target cerebellum development, by introducing taking turns, sharing, and follow the lead.
Verdict: I think this box is a great idea for the first time parent! I know myself having a brand new baby for the first time I had no idea what to do with them until they got a few monthly older. Having previously worked in the education system with young children, many of these ideas just came naturally to me, but I know with all the technology out there now, most people forget about many of these simple, yet crucial skills for development. There is a lot of amazing supplemental information and helpful tools in this box by Dr. Kristi G. and Sania Jamil and I cannot wait to pass along this box to my sister-in-law who is a first time mom to a few month old baby.
