Subscription Box Unboxing
Subscription Box Review
Everything that we received in our August Boxy Charm “Totally Boxy” themed box. I’m going to be honest and say that this is the most disappointing box I’ve ever received from them but it still isn’t bad in any way. Does that makes sense?
So what is all this stuff?
Our box insert
The reverse lists each of the items that’s included along with their retail values. This month our box has a retail value of $145 which is pretty darn amazing even if we weren’t blown away by what we received!
Pur The Complexion Authority Pink Glitter Mask
$26
First up we have a mask from PUR that commemorates the 60th anniversary of Barbie. What better way to do that than with something pink! This mask has glitter and uses licorice extract along with green tea, vitamin b and ginseng for fresh, revitalized appearance. I’m going to be honest and say that despite my sensitive, redness prone skin I CANNOT resist a great peel off mask so cheers to this product!
Tarte Big Ego Mascara
$23
Another black mascara. Not to be a brat but could this be any more redundant? I’ve gotten a trestique mascara and a Too Faced Mascara in the past … four? months. I don’t need any more mascara and while the packaging is cute and the wand looks great I’ll either be passing this on to a friend or putting it in an upcoming giveaway.
Becca Hydra-Mist & Refresh Powder
$39
Okay so this is probably this boxes saving grace. It costs more than the box and is honestly an amazing product. I wasn’t sure what to expect because the name is quite confusing but this formulation is infused with 50% water and glycerin to apply a product that is hydrating and works like a dream. This despite it’s hydrating properties leaves a matte finish.
The packaging is pretty. Standard Becca quality and easy to open (and doesn’t kick up too much dust).
This powder is so crazy. I love it. You put this on and it turns almost into this creamy moisturizing, dimethicone-y product.
It’s hard to see here but this has the most amazing blurring effect! I can’t wait to play around with this powder a bit more. I’m not really a setting powder kind of gal because my skin is so dry but for this powder I’ll gladly make an exception.
Wander Glow Ahead Illuminating Oil
$42
Next is this product from Wander Beauty … who is a frequent contributing to Boxy Charm packages. This beauty oil is a multi tasker to say the least, it hydrates as well as primes to leave your skin supple and soft.
The formulation is less oily than I imagined and is a pretty pink with no real smell to speak of. The packaging is cute and looks like the “Ampoules” that are so often found in K Beauty products.
Lashaholics Instaglam False Eyelashes
$14.99
Next up are some fake eyelashes which I personally don’t use, 1. because I wear glasses and 2. because I’m a complete newb and can’t ever get it right anyway. I do understand that many women enjoy using these and that it’s a nice inclusion to a beauty box but I’m also pretty dang sure that on my Boxy survey I said I don’t want fake lashes… so figure that one out?
The packaging is beautiful however, and these lashes are absolutely stunning.
So in summary
Presentation: Everything arrived to us perfectly in our August Boxy Charm package.
Quality: Boxy Charm does a great job of sending us high end products from great brands each month.
Curation: This month I feel like Boxy missed the mark for me personally. The Becca redeemed them but had this been my first box I may not have decided to continue on with them.
Box Economy: For the price of this box we received $145 in products which is honestly AMAZING. I get nit picky but this subscription does all that an more and I am still excited for the September Boxy Luxe.
