Our first glimpse inside the May Alakaban Box.
Everything that we received in our May Alakaban Box. We are loving how the spices are sent and this Badulla Estate Tea is organic, which means it’s better for you and for the workers who grow it.
So what is all this stuff?
Our box inserts. One tells us how to properly prepare Ceylon tea and how to create our own blend. The other lists each of the items included in this box.
We have to say we love the little containers our spices came in!
The bag of almonds that we received are crushed and ready to be added to our tea!
This Sri Lankan form of sugar is unrefined and non-distilled from cane sugar.
This sweet spice has deep flavors like maple and a pop of licorice for a unique sweetness. We’d never heard of this before so we are glad we got to try it!
The most aromatic of all the spices we received are these cloves. Use these in small quantities because a little goes a long way!
The Sri Lankan buds are larger which gives them a bit more flavor!
We received the Thirst Tea Subscription which contains a generous portion of 150 grams of tea. Ours came in these 2 bags.
This little box contained a few pre-mixed tea bags as well as some empty tea bags to mix your own tea blends.
There were a total of 5 pre-made bags in total and numerous empty tea bags.
Our favorite items in this box are this biodegradable spoon and strainer. The spoon helps you to measure the right amount of tea and the strainer helps you to strain your tea from saucepan to teacup. There are 2 cloths included for the strainer that are dishwasher safe.
So in summary
We look for three things in a subscription box; quality, curation and presentation. The Alakaban Tea Box is a great way to get delicious teas and spices sent straight to your door. We love their commitment to fair trade and sustainability as well. The presentation is great, everything arrives perfectly and the little spice containers are gorgeous. The quality is phenomenal. The tea is organic and the spices are fantastic and chosen because they pair well with our tea. Curation is perfect. We love that they send bonus items in addition to our tea that can be used in our own tea blending and making. This is a great box for any tea lover!
